Things to consider with basement drywall installation

from:

Basement drywall is a great solution for doing up your unused basement. If you are planning to turn your basement into an amazing usable area then you are visiting the right page. There are certain factors that make drywall installation the most viable option for your basement. Look on for those advantages of installing basement drywall in the following lines:

Ceiling space

Basement drywall is a good option for low basement ceilings. Mostly, basements have very low ceilings, which make it difficult to redecorate or renovate it. It requires a lot of space to do the ceilings and that is quite impossible. Drywalls can be installed within very minimum space and this looks like a perfect solution for you. Using drywalls for you basement is an intelligent idea as it gets done without using much space keeping the ceiling high.

It is cheap

If you compare drywall with other materials, you will be amazed to find the comparatively lower prices of drywalls. Drywall or sheetrock are very popular and an instant hit more so because it is also cheap. Drywalls suit your requirement if you are trying to improve the look of your basement within a shoestring budget. Not just that they come cheap, even you can install them on your own. This means zero cost of installation. You can follow different online guides to install them even. This might not be a difficult task for you if you have minimal hands-on experience while doing up your home.

Get a sleek finish

Drywalls make your basement look smooth enough to make heads turn in appreciation. Undoubtedly drywalls add up to the appeal of your not-so-cool basement that it used to be. Your basement also looks clean and fresh after drywall installation, this invites more attention.

Tips for installing drywall in your basement

Before anything, make sure that there is no standing water or seepage in any of the corners of your basement.

Try to estimate the quantity of drywall and wooden strips required for your basement. Approx one sheet is required for every 4 feet of wall.

Place the drywall ½ inch above the ground, to avoid contact with water.

Finish up the wall by putting a layer of drywall mix in the splits between every drywall sheet. Put a drywall tape on that and again some drywall mix. Also fill the screw holes with this mixture. Wait for one to two days and scratch off any extra clump before you paint it.

Your basement might not have been your concern sometimes back but now it can get all the attention it ever wanted. Provided you have taken care to ensure it gets enough light and proper air circulation. Once it is over, you will be surprised with the clean new look of your basement.
