How to install decorative molding?
from:Home is the most precious possession, and you ideally would like it to be dressed as a bride. You furnish it with cabinets, bookcases, other equipments and decorations in the bathroom and kitchen too. A little labor helps it look brighter. You will be delighted to know that this comes rather cheap and you will only be thrilled when you get the final touch. The tactic is called decorative molding.
Where to do it?
Every home has ceiling, walls, floors, windows and doors. Even yours does have these artifices. They come natural and a little artificial touch will not only strengthen their presence but also glorify their outlook. The corners where the walls meet with themselves, ceiling and floors may be installed with decorative molding. You will need ordinary items like screws, nails, drivers, primer to glaze the furnishing, and wooden squares to hide the gaps. Just make sure that the molding is done pretty compact and there is no room for any gaps. Leakage is death for these moldings.
Doors and windows may also be cased with bright molds. This will cover up the ugly joints as well. If the door is wooden, try adding a metal decoration and vice versa. They too are so different in heat capacity that together, they insulate the neighboring walls.
Measurements
Measure the casing space, windows and doors well. Try making your own assumption as to how much molding is needed. Drill the holes in the walls accordingly and fill the gaps with wood. Fitting should be apt. Arched panels that are common occurrences on cabinets, grate and bookcases may be installed with proper decorative molds. They come in ceramics, wood, Bakelite, plastic, flax and other items.
Skill at hand
Decorative moldings are very important facets in homes. You need to be connected with professionals regarding this. Measurements are not generally our cup of tea. What is urgent is to keep track of small things. A basic tip is to keep 1/10th the size of the decorative molding space in hand. That is, if you want to make the decoration for about 10 inches, you should keep 1 inch both sides empty. Then do the drill and see if the fitting is handy. That is where the professionals score over you. They come expensive but then, you won’t mind spending extra shilling on your home decoration.
Room temperature
Keep the room fragrant, fresh and ventilated. Don’t let the violent breezes enter your homes. Protect your homes against any deformity. This is done by heating and insulating the rooms carefully. Dampness should not be allowed, especially near the moldings.
Just make sure that the moldings don’t fall off. Keep them cleared off crusty edges. If they appear, remove them.
