Essential tips on using wood molding in your home
from:We all wish to enhance the price of our houses. This can be done through brilliant home improvisation. Artful home decor can be a key to some glorious upliftment of the home. It thrills the visitors and gives a sublime feeling to the homeowner. Wood molding is just such a home improvement idea. It is used more as a tool of reaching aesthetic height rather than a necessity. There are various ways in which wood molding can be used at home. Some require a little creativity and others need just some determination.
Door trim
Door trim is one such process. Wood molding can make a door look more adventurous and far more dominant in terms of first impression. You can also try advanced molding for further embellishment. Base shoe molding can also enhance the effect and let it be felt through the baseboard to the flooring material. There are various synthetic materials too but solid wood is the best by a long means. Even for the windows, the idea is to add blocks. It is one thing having a mundane metered edge and quite another thing to have some blocks attached to the window.
Fighting kitchen cramps beautifully
We live in a world that’s shortening by the day. This often makes for cramped spaces. How do we fight this then? So many times we have felt that a shrinking dining space leaves a dent in the wall just as we push the chair back. You can use a chair rail in this regard for lessening any kind of damage to the wall. You can also use crown molds for enhancing the aesthetic beauty of your walls. As the name suggests, it is a crown. It acts as a bridge between the ceiling and the wall and allows for a beautiful transition from the wall to the ceiling.
Faux wood crown molding
You can use wood molding for creating sturdy and well-meaning handrails for your stairway. Many people use contrasting paint and wood molds. The idea again is to beautify your home by using brilliant texture painting. These add some more sheen to the entire look. There is a school of thought that teaches about faux wood crown molding. It is made with the help of polyurethane and looks identical to wood. It is far lighter than real wood and hence can be easily installed too. It will give an impression of stained wood if it is finished with a perfect faux finisher.
A point to remember
Wood generally shrinks a little with difference in temperature. This makes the job of crown molding difficult. It is here that faux crown molding can become a cost effective and a better substitute.
