Is a Professional Roof Maintenance Plan the Right Choice for You?

from:

Are you planning a new roof for your business? If so, we probably do not need to explain to you the great expense that a new roof involves. In fact, you're probably still reeling from the bottom line price tag of putting a new roof on your building. The good news for you is that this is not an expense that needs to be repeated often.

Want more good news? There is something you can do that may help you increase the amount of time in between roofing replacements for your building by years. Regular maintenance can greatly increase the lifespan of your roof. You see, roofs are exposed to all manner of elements. More so than any other part of your building and there is absolutely nothing to offer a little bit of defense for your roof from the damage that the sun, wind, rain, ice, heat, and pollution can cause to the roofing materials. Regular maintenance provides a little bit of conditioning so that the impact isn't nearly as damaging.

The other benefit of regular maintenance is that, when performed properly, it can identify potential problems before they pick up steam and become really big problems. But do you really need to invest in what may be a rather costly maintenance plan in order to keep things rooftop in ship shape?

The bottom line is that this answer will vary from person to person, business to business, and roof to roof. The reason is that we all have strengths and weaknesses. It makes no difference in the world if you know nothing about roofs or the specific roofing system that has been installed on your home or business to inspect it yourself. You will invariably miss important warning signs if you try to do it yourself. Another problem with leaving everything in your hands is that time goes by you may get busy and six months turns into a year which quickly turns into two or you wind up having leaks before you ever bother calling anyone in to inspect your roof. Also if you have what is considered a high maintenance roof you need more frequent TLC in order to keep your rooftop operating at maximum effectiveness and efficiency.

In other words, if you aren't truly committed to keeping all maintenance performed by professionals and on schedule it is often a good idea to purchase the maintenance plan that most roofing installers offer. This leaves the expense, the planning, and the preventative maintenance for your roof in the oh so capable hands of someone else. The bottom line is this, if you aren't an expert in roofs and a stickler for time tables and schedules then you may be better suited by for a roof maintenance plan.
