Basement Remodeling
from:Remodeling the basement provides many benefits including the living and storage areas for the home. They can be an additional room for entertaining such as a recreation room with a bar or pool table, or they can be a second family room. Depending on the needs of the family, the remodeled basement will add comfort on the lower level on the home. Before starting to remodel the basement, consider all the desirable functions for the remodeled area. You will save money on the remodeling of the basement if you are prepared with proper planning of the project.
Some people make the basement a multipurpose family room with areas for watching television, reading, and the room for the children to play. Most people take advantage of the new room to create their home theatre system in their new family room. This becomes a great idea since there are not any windows to allow the light place a glare on the television set. The area is enclosed so the sound from the entertainment system has a higher quality sound.
Another option for the remodeling project is to create a home gym in the area. The basement is the perfect location to put the heavy workout machines that are out of the way yet within close proximately to the home. Using the basement for the workout area, you will avoid the long drive to the gym creating more reasons to get into shape for everyone in the family. You will save money on the gym memberships as well.
The new room can be a game room with the room for the children where you can set up a television for their use with video games and other game tables. This is especially nice for the rainy days and cooler winter months when they tend to grow bored with playing in their rooms. Set up a computer area so they can also do their homework in a larger area. The game room in the basement is also a safe place for the children to play where they are close to adult supervision.
Add a guest room to the basement area. The new room can be for friends visiting from out of town or the in-laws when they come for extended stays. Add a bathroom and small kitchen area to make the area even more comfortable for the guests. They will have the comforts of home without interrupting your privacy to use the bathrooms and kitchen for their needs. The room with all the amenities is also a great way to have additional income should you decide to rent the room out.
Before making any revisions to the basement find out what the local zoning and building codes are that may affect your plans.
