17. Tips on lighting Designs
from:There are certainly a lot of things to be considered when it comes to various lighting designs. You must always remember that the lighting, at times, helps to set the mood of a room. Imagine yourself in a romantic setup; you want the light settings to enhance and improve the atmosphere of the particular moment. Even a home office, work space or study room need a specific lighting design to make the area really shine.
There are a lot of options that you can run through when it comes to the different lighting setups to be used in a particular room. In the bedroom, you may want an array of assorted lamps to serve the different things you do there. A nice bedside lamp can serve as a great source of light for reading, while some soft recessed lights on a dimmer switch can create a splendid romantic mood. On the other hand, a ceiling fixture can give a nice general light to the room. In the kitchen, you’ll want a lighting design that illuminates the room in the best way possible, as the kitchen is where a lot of chores are done, and therefore needs to be a bright area. Fluorescent lights are good in a kitchen for general lighting, and then you can add small task lights to highlight a certain area of the kitchen.
When you want to add some light to a room in your home, you don’t necessarily have to change all of the lights there. If the room already has large floor lamps or ceiling fixtures, you can just increase the number of lighting fixtures instead. This can be done in a very artistic manner and thus add a fine touch to the room’s décor. A floor lamp can be used to add light to the room, and at the same time some beauty. Very often an antique lighting design can add real beauty to a room, but there can be a substantial cost. A way around that is to go with modern imitations of lights like Tiffany lamps etc.
The chandelier is one of the things that can be added to the lighting design of a dining room, and made the centre piece of any room. It should be installed in such a way that it gives the entire room enough light. Typically, this type of light is setup in the centre of the room, and therefore it’s often the main attraction of the room. The bulbs to be installed in the chandelier should be very bright, if shades are to be used in the chandelier, so as to not limit the amount of the light. If it’s a purely crystal or open chandelier, smaller bulbs can be used and still create a splendid amount of light.
To really add to the décor of a room, you can add lighting fixtures made with pieces of artwork. If you prefer modern fixtures, there are plenty made of brass, stainless steel, plastic, and other materials. No matter what type of lighting fixtures you use, they’re all designed to bring out the distinctive attraction of the room.
