Cable TV: Should You Bundle Services?
from:While you’re engaged in home remodeling, you might also think about remodeling some of the services you pay for each month, such as telephone, cable, and Internet services to ensure you are truly getting the best deal. With so many service providers, it really pays to comparison shop so that you can get the best grade of service for the money.
Bundling Your Services
You may find that it is most economical to bundle your services with one company that can provide your television entertainment, Internet, and telephone services. Cable companies offer bundling services and phone companies do as well. In fact, if you decide to bundle your services with the phone company, you can most likely bundle your wireless services as well. However, is it worth it?
That depends. There are several factors that go into deciding whether or not you want to bundle your services with one company. The most important factor is how you feel about the company you are considering bundling your services with. After all, if you don’t feel good about the company in general then you probably don’t want to trust so many important aspects of your life to them. If you feel that all of the companies in your area provide good or at least adequate services, then there are a few things you should take a look at before you decide which company to go with.
Price
Price is one of the most important factors you will need to consider; however, be sure and look at the advertised prices closely so you will know exactly what you are getting. For one thing, is the advertised price a promotional price or will it be the same each and every month? Another very important aspect of pricing to consider is which features does a certain price cover? Before you decide one company’s price is more affordable than another company’s price, compare the features that both companies are offering. For home phone services, is long distance included or will you have to pay a certain amount per minute? If so, how much? Also, which calling features are included in the package? If you have to pay extra for features, this could dramatically increase your monthly bill.
When you are comparing prices for Internet service, look at the speed. Most cable companies have different pricing tiers for speed and companies that offer DSL will need to be compared with the price and the speed in order to be truly comparable.
Cable services have several pricing tiers depending on what you choose so instead of comparing a promotional price, be sure and compare the price according to how many channels you get and whether or not that includes digital cable or a DVR.
Once you are satisfied with the pricing structure that best meets your needs, look at other things too, such as customer service. If you are already a customer for one of the above services, what has been your experience when dealing with customer service issues? This is an important aspect to consider also as poor customer service can have a giant impact on your overall experience.
