Suspended Ceiling: Product Options

from:

A suspended ceiling can be an excellent investment into your home. If you have an exposed ceiling, where all of your ductwork and pipes are showing, this type of system can easily fit in under that work to cover it all up. However, what makes these systems so great is that you can create a grid to hold them in place. This allows you to easy move the ceiling tiles to the side to access the piping underneath. This is why so many people have selected this option for their basement or other areas where they need to access the ductwork.

There is a variety of products on the market for suspended ceilings. It used to be that you only had one choice: a metal grid that ran throughout the area and effectively held drywall tiles in place. Today, you have many more choices to select from, including some highly effective and yet very beautiful choices.

As you consider all of your options, there are several things to keep in mind. Consider the options in suspended ceilings:

Have you considered the performance of the system? You likely want something that is going to be environmentally friendly and still provide you with superb quality. You may want to choose something offering renewable materials. Consider options that give you this ability.

Texture also matters. Texture can be flat or smooth, if you do not want to draw any attention to the ceiling. On the other hand, some of today's suspension products give you ornate designs, including the look of a tin ceiling. The options in texture are endless.

Consider the suspension system and the edging detail options you have. You will need to measure out the space and consider the square footage of the space carefully. Then, consider those that offer a shape that works for the shape of your space. If you have any unique areas, such as rounded areas or step like areas, you will need a system that accommodates this requirement.

Go for color next. White is the most traditional of suspension systems, because it is just the simplest of options. However, many of today's products are available in a number of colors including bright ones. You may even want to select something that gives you that metal finish found in copper and tin ceilings traditionally.

As you can see, there are many options to consider with a suspended ceiling. You are only limited by the budget you have and your own tastes and preferences. Many of these systems are also easy to install, which means you will need a few household tools and a few friends to get it up and in place.
