DIY Ceiling Tiles: What You Should Know
from:If a white ceiling is too boring and dull to you, you may want to consider DIY ceiling tiles. The average do it yourselfer may be able to install these great looking tiles into their home, with just a bit of extra time and patience. Though more complex than the traditional painting of the ceiling, these ceiling tiles add a lot of ceiling décor and interest. They can take your room from a standard, every day space and transform it into a century old home style.
A variety of types of ceiling tiles are on the market. They come in a variety of different designs. You may want something simple, such as a soft fine lined fissure design. On the other hand, you may want something that adds much more architectural design. For real ceiling décor, go for a textured pattern with raised panels and intricate detailing. Many of these tiles are available in a variety of colors, while others can be painted as you see fit.
There are several key benefits to this type of ceiling décor:
Ceiling tiles give a beautiful look that can help you to hide imperfections that may be found in any ceiling.
They are far less expensive than traditional tin ceiling tiles, which offer that unique ornate look that is popular.
They do add value to the home. Adding the ceiling tiles to any space will add architectural interest, which is often looked upon favorably by appraisers. Of course, they do need to be installed properly for this to happen.
The process is rather easy in terms of installation. You can have the tiles up in the space within a matter of hours, rather than the process of installing tin tiles.
Installation of DIY ceiling tiles is not difficult. In most cases, it is similar to laying down other tiling, except that there is no grout line. Each tile butts right up against the other. The key to getting the best look is to ensure that the initial line is straight and laid perfectly. That way, every other tile will fall directly in place after that.
Since the tiles are so light, they are easily applied using adhesive. There are other products on the market that may need other application methods. Most are either adhesive backed or you will apply the adhesive as you place them on the ceiling.
Ceiling tiles are a great investment because of the charm they add to the space. They are a fast solution and an easy way to add value to any space without having to spend a lot of money (or time) on the project. Individuals who may be interested in these will find many options to select from.
